“'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;”........
But that’s not exactly true because Santa’s little mouse Christmas tree decorating team is very busy at work, for it is their job to make sure that all the Christmas trees are fully decorated by Christmas morning.

It’s Christmas Morning and Santa has left a new toy mouse all wrapped up in green ribbon for a special little kitten.

This painting is done in artist’s acrylic paint and colored pencil and finished with acrylic varnish.  It comes matted in a single black matt with a foam core backer.  It can be easily removed and transferred to a different matt of your own choice.  I like to send my original paintings done on paper in a matt so they will be better protected in the mail and I have a lot of these single black mats left over from our art shows.

"Toy Mouse & White Kitten"

“Toy Mouse & White Kitten”
Original small format painting
Image size: 5”X7”
Paper size: (aprox.) 5½”X7½”
Mixed media: pastel, colored pencil & acrylic paint
Strathmore toned charcoal paper mounted to Stonehenge 90lb paper
Matted in a black single black matt with foam core backer
November 2010

This little white kitten takes a rest break from morning play with his toy mouse on the kitchen floor.

I started this one in pastel on Strathmore toned charcoal paper, then I mounted my drawing to a stiffer backing (90lb Stonehenge paper) for more support and continued with more pastel, colored pencils, and acrylic paint then finished it with acrylic varnish.  It comes matted in a single black matt with a foam core backer.  It can be easily removed and transferred to a different matt of your own choice.  I like to send my original paintings done on paper in a matt so they will be better protected in the mail and I have a lot of these single black mats left over from our art shows.

"Blue Birds of Happiness"

“Blue Birds of Happiness”
Original small format art
Mixed media – acrylic, ink, pencil & collage
4”X4” canvas panel -⅛" thick
Edges painted black for display
November 2010

A wish for happiness: “May the blue birds of happiness always nest on your head.”

I had a desire to do a few different creative things just for fun, so I cut out some drawings that I had done in my sketch book and did a collage with them along with some other torn paper. Then I used ink pens, colored pencil and acrylic paint to finish this art. The edges are painted black so it could be displayed without a frame if desired. (Maybe on a mini easel for example)  There is lots of nice texture in this piece from the layered collage technique.  It is finished with a few layers of semi-gloss acrylic varnish.

The nights are getting chiller and the marigolds and asters are loosing their blooms.  As I watch the flames in the fireplace I am pleased because I love the fall but I am also saddened because I will miss the flowers and creatures of spring and summer.  Life is full of opposing forces and I often find myself suspended between two extremes.
