Well, I thought that I had finished this series, but I have one more.  And even although it is after Christmas I just had to do it.  It seems to give my little story a better ending, and I think that you will see why……

“'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;”………
After the Christmas tree decorating mouse team had finished all of their work on all the trees and had their little Christmas party with Santa, the mice went home to their room in the wall of Santa’s house at the North Pole. Very tired from all of their work, they hung their little hats on the bed posts and quickly fell asleep in their warm little beds.
But Santa hadn’t forgotten them.  When Santa’s work was done and all the toys were delivered to all the children of the world, and just before he settled down for his own long winter’s nap, he delivered presents to all the mice that had helped him decorate the trees.  And you can bet that these presents were very nice because these little mice had been extra especially good this year.
And now we can all settle down for a long winter's nap.

I used Strathmore illustration board, drew out my design in colored pencil and then did my painting with watercolor paint and a little acrylic paint used like watercolor, and lots of love. It is finished with a few coats of acrylic varnish.

This is “really” is the final piece in my Santa’s Christmas tree mouse decorating team series, well at least for this year. It was a lot of fun for me and I hope that you all enjoyed the journey.

“'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;”………
But that’s not exactly true because Santa’s little mouse Christmas tree decorating team has just finished their work. The tree is all finished; Santa has left all the presents under it and filled all the stockings with goodies. Now it’s time to relax and have some refreshments with Santa.  Some thoughtful child has left a big glass of milk and a plate of yummy cookies. I bet you always wondered if Santa really ate all those treats left for him. Well it turns out that he does, but he always has some help cleaning up the crumbs.  And by the way, Santa’s glass of milk is ALWAYS half full.
“Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.”

This is the final piece in my Santa’s Christmas tree mouse decorating team series.  It was a lot of fun for me and I hope that you all enjoyed the journey.

For this last one I used Strathmore illustration board, drew out my design in colored pencil and then did my painting with watercolor paint and a little acrylic paint used like watercolor, and lots of love. It is finished with a few coats of acrylic varnish.

Missy Mouse has the Christmas light maintenance task on Santa’s tree decorating team. After the Christmas lights are put up she walks along all the cords checking each light. If she finds that one has burned out she makes sure it is replaced.

“'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;”………
But that’s not exactly true because Santa’s little mouse Christmas tree decorating team is very busy at work, for it is their job to make sure that all the Christmas trees are fully decorated by Christmas morning.

For this one, I used Strathmore illustration board, drew out my design in colored pencil and then did my painting with watercolor paint and a little acrylic paint used like watercolor. It is finished with a few coats of acrylic varnish.

Gus Mouse has the Christmas bell detail.  His task is to hang all the bells on the tree and make sure they are securely tied. This is a much honored position on the decorating team because (of course as everybody knows) every time you hear a bell ring an angel gets his wings.

Forget your perfect offering
There's a crack in everything

Here is another aceo painting of a Santa’s little Christmas tree decorating mouse.  It seems that he has run into a bit of trouble from below.  Maybe if he is very quiet and still the cat will go away.

But that’s not exactly true because Santa’s little mouse Christmas tree decorating team is very busy at work, for it is their job to make sure that all the Christmas trees are fully decorated by Christmas morning.

Here is another aceo painting of Santa’s little decorating mouse holding a purple ornament that he is about to position on the Christmas tree.

I liked doing the last mouse & ornament so much that I did another one. I’m enjoying this theme.  This time I used gesso treated 300lb watercolor paper. I drew out my design in colored pencil and then did my painting with my Winsor Newton Artisan oil paint (water mixable) using a transparent wash technique, very much like watercolor. I finished this painting with a thin coat of oil retouch varnish. I think that this technique really worked and I might do some more like this using the same method.
