This winter when the leaves are gone from the trees and the berries and nuts have all disappeared, the birds and animals begin foraging to find the food and shelter that they need to survive.  If you build a very nice Snow-Lady using all the love in your heart, providing her with a soft scarf, a fluffy hat and a carrot nose; be sure to give her a big friendly smile so she will love and protect those animals that come to her by giving them a safe comfortable place to rest.

"Sleeping Blue Mouse"

“Sleeping Blue Mouse”
Original ACEO painting
2½”X3½” – (official aceo size)
Watercolor & Casein paint
140lb watercolor print paper
Date of work: November 2012
Sold - Thank you

There is something about a sweet cuddled up sleeping mouse that I like.  I have used this idea in many of my paintings. Here I have repeated this concept again but I made the sleeping mouse blue this time.  He must be cold and that is why he has curled up in the warm sun lit leaves.

I took a small portion of one of my previous designs and printed it mirrored on some 140lb Moab print paper.  Then using opaque watercolor and casein print I completely painted over the print changing many things and adding new elements thus I have created a new and completely different original aceo painting that I hope you will enjoy.  It has been finished with acrylic varnish.

Outside of matt: 8”X10”
Opening in matt: 5”X7”
Date of work: October 2012
Sold - Thank you

Sometimes I see my cat laying so still gazing off into the distance and I wonder what he could be thinking about.  I think it must be about some sort of strange dreamy cat fantasy that I couldn't possibly understand or relate to as a human.  But on the other hand, maybe he’s just wondering if there is anything new in his bowl.

Watercolor, ballpoint & acrylic paint on

Calvin Mouse loves to sit among the Candy Corn Flowers in the fall waiting for the harvest feast to begin.

I took a larger previous design and printed a portion of it on some 140lb Moab print paper.  Then using a ball point pen I recreated the new design that I had in mind by finding those little candy corn faces on the flowers and enhancing all other aspects of the mouse and background.  Thus I have created a new and completely different original aceo painting that I hope you will enjoy.

“Halloween Pumpkin Family”
Small format miniature painting – 5 5/8 X 2 1/8 inches
Artist’s acrylic paint
Layered bristol board
Finished with acrylic varnish
October 2012
Sold - Thank you

The Pumpkin family recently had their annual portrait made together.  From left to right there’s Dad, Mom, Junior and Grandpa. They said to tell everyone: “Happy Halloween”

This is an original miniature painting done by me. It is a little smaller than 6” long and a little bigger than 2” tall.  It is made of two layers of bristol board. I was doodling on a long piece of bristol board one day and I really started to like my pumpkin drawing so I cut it out and mounted it to a little larger piece of bristol board and painted it with acrylic paint with a final coat of acrylic varnish. It is signed in the painting as well as on the back with additional information about the media used.

I have also listed all of my previous Halloween prints on Ebay. click on the link to Ebay to the right.

Hardboard panel -⅛" thick
Finished with acrylic varnish
July 2012
Sold - Thank you

These three little gray mice are enjoying the fantasy garden today.  The fantasy weather is just right for exploring, napping and just pain “hanging around”.

I still like these Ampersand Aquabord hardboard panels. They are very nice to work on with several different media. Because I like a smoother surface, I sand it a little before I start working. I prepare the back with one coat of gesso so I can write the information there and I like to paint the edges black so it has a nicer look to it if someone wants to display it without a frame.
After the preparation I began working first in colored pencil for the design, then watercolor for the basic color layout, and last I used acrylic paint to refine and finish the details.  It has also been varnished with acrylic semi-gloss varnish.

 “Feeling Blue”
Mouse in the flower garden
Small format painting – 4”X4”
Watercolor, colored pencil & acrylic paint
Hardboard panel -⅛" thick
Finished with acrylic varnish
June 2012
Sold - Thank you

Morris Mouse is feeling a little blue today. It’s just one of those days when a mouse feels like hiding alone under a bush in the garden and pulling leaves off of tiny flowers.

These Ampersand Aquabord hardboard panels are very nice to work on. I sanded this one a little this time with a very fine grained sand paper before I began working on it to get a smoother working surface.  It worked out very well.   I will go ahead and use up the rest of the 4”X4” panels that I bought before I make up my mind to use them on a regular basis though because I could probably get the same results on plain gesso treated hardboard, but I don’t’ know that for sure yet.

"Top of the Heap" - Two mice

 “Top of the Heap”
Original small format painting – 6”X 6”
Two mice on recycled materials
Mixed Media – papier-mâché & acrylic paint
Texture & some iridescent gold acrylic paint on recycled foam core board
Finished with acrylic varnish
June 2012
Sold - Thank you

One of the things that I love to do is papier-mâché.  I also love to take something that is used and re-fashion it into an art work.  For this piece I covered foam core that I had previously used for a painting pallet with papier-mâché and then after treating the surface with layers of gesso I used acrylic paint to create this painting of two mice having a meeting on top of some very interesting discards. For the papier-mâché I used brown paper, newspapers and paper towels.  The nature of papier-mâché always produces a lot of interesting texture that gives me ideas. For example: There is some texture that was created with paper toweling and painted with gold iridescent acrylic paint in the foreground that I call “recycled gold”.
I wrote the title and other information on the back with my signature and finished this painting with acrylic semi-gloss varnish so it can be framed in a regular 6”X 6” frame for the wall.
